This is the most convenient way. There are 2 express buses that operates this service:

 

Express Bus 783

Henri Coanda International Airport - Bucharest City Center


Bus stop in Piata Unirii for Express Bus 783

It's an Express Bus Line, operated by RATB (public service) that makes the connection between Henri Coanda International Airport and Piata Unirii. A card for 2 trips costs 7 lei + the cost of the card 1.6 lei. You can't buy a card with only 1 trip, the cards are issued with 2 trips.

When you travel from Henri Coanda International Airport to the city center you can buy this card from the automatic vending machine located exactly in the bus stop. The bus stop is downstairs, in front of Domestic Arrivals Entrance (from International Arrivals, take the stairs, follow the signs to get to Domestic Arrivals and then exit).

When you travel from Piata Unirii to the airport, there is a ticket booth exactly in the bus stop.

783 Express Bus operates non-stop, everyday. During the day the departures are every 15 minutes and during the night the departures are every 40 minutes. The journey usually takes about 45-50 minutes. If it is a rush hour, then the journey could easily take more, even 1.15h.

From Piata Unirii you have connections with the Metro (Lines: M1, M2, M3), buses, taxis, etc. For more information about the 783 Express Bus timetable or route, please visit: www.ratb.ro and choose 783 Bus.

If you are travelling from the airport to the city center the main bus stops are:

- Airport - Arrivals Terminal
- Airport - Departures Terminal
- Piata Presei
- Arcul de Triumf (The Arch of Triumph)
- Piata Victoriei
- Piata Romana
- Piata 21 Decembrie 1989
- Piata Universitatii
- Piata Unirii 1
- Piata Unirii 2 (end of the route)

Note: You must buy the card before you get on the bus because you can't purchase it from the driver. Some of the bus stops along the route may not have ticket booths so better buy this card in advance.

To validate your trip after you get in the vehicle, look for a small orange box with an LCD screen on it.  Touch the indicated area on the box with your magnetic card and you will hear a short beep indicating your trip was validated. If you forget to validate your trip, you can be fined with 50 lei.


Express Bus 780:

It's an Express Bus Line, operated by RATB (public service) that makes the connection between Otopeni Airport and Gara de Nord Train Station (Bucharest North Railway Station). A card for 2 trips costs 7 lei + the cost of the card 1.6 lei. You can't buy a card with only 1 trip, the cards are issued with 2 trips.

When you travel from Henri Coanda International Airport to the city center you can buy this card from the automatic vending machine located exactly in the bus stop. The bus stop is downstairs, in front of Domestic Arrivals Entrance (from International Arrivals, take the stairs, follow the signs to get to Domestic Arrivals and then exit).

When you travel from Gara de Nord Train Station (Bucharest North Railway Station) to the airport you can buy the ticket from the ticket boot in front of the train station (see the pictures).

780 Express Bus operates everyday from 05.30 to 23.00. The departures are every 30-40 minutes. The journey usually takes about 40 minutes.

TIP:  Between Gara de Nord Train Station and Henri Coanda International Airport you can also use the Express Bus 783 by combining the bus with the Metro system.
- From Gara de Nord Train Station to the airport: take the Metro M1 from Gara de Nord to Piata Victoriei (1 stop in the direction of Dristor 2). Locate the exit to Blvd. Lascar Catargiu. When you go outside, exactly in front of the metro exit, there is the bus station for Express Bus 783.
- From the airport to Gara de Nord Train Station: get off the bus in Piata Victoriei. The entrance to the Metro is next to the bus station. Take the Metro L1 from Piata Victoriei to Gara de Nord (1 stop in the direction of Republica).
